The Texas Tech MDL Judicial Summit's invite list is federal judges, Fortune 500 general counsel, and the top litigators in the country. When that many of the top players in a field agree to be in the same room, you don't need to convince anyone to show up. What you need is for every piece of the brand to earn the room, not just the invitation.
That's what we've been building for the Texas Tech MDL Judicial Summit since 2023.
The Client
The Texas Tech MDL Judicial Summit is an invitation-only event held in partnership with Texas Tech University. Founded by Richard Arsenault and Mark Lanier, it brings together an unmatched group of stakeholders in the multidistrict litigation space: leading jurists, litigators, academicians, Special Masters, Corporate General Counsel and Industry experts. The agenda runs on panel discussions where plaintiffs' counsel and defense counsel share the table, and the judges who oversee those cases weigh in directly. Together they discuss the challenges, best practices, and emerging trends shaping MDL today. It's less a conference than a working session for people who spend most of the year on opposite sides of the same courtroom.
Where We Started
In 2023, the Summit team came to Ardent for two things: a conference brochure and a dedicated website. It sounds simple but the brief carried an unspoken standard. The people opening that brochure or visiting the site review MDL cases for a living. The design had to earn their trust before even they read a single word. So we leaned into restraint over flash: clean typography, careful structure, and materials that read as considered rather than promotional.

The Rebrand
By 2024, the Summit had outgrown its original identity. We took on a full rebrand, developing a new visual system and rebuilding the website to match it. This wasn't a logo swap. It meant rethinking how the brand should feel across every material an attendee might touch: the invitation they receive, the brochure they page through, the site they check before they RSVP.
Since then, the relationship hasn't been a one-time project. It's ongoing brand stewardship.

2025 Brochure
Keeping Pace With the Event
The scope has grown accordingly, starting with an annual logo refresh, which keeps pace with wherever the Summit lands each year. When the Summit moved from Aspen to Denver for its 2026 conference, we introduced a complete new identity to match the new setting, not just a location swap in the footer.

2026 Brochure - Updated Location
Beyond the brochure and website, our work now includes:
Invitation design for each year's event
Custom-printed commemorative gifts for past attendees
A range of printed conference materials built to create one cohesive brand experience across every point of contact

Why It Works
An invitation-only summit doesn't need to convert strangers. It needs to make the people already on the list feel like they're part of something worth protecting. Every piece we build, from the save-the-date to the parting gift, is designed to reinforce that feeling: this is a room worth being in. What they notice, whether consciously or not, is whether the brand around them holds up under scrutiny. What they touch and feel matters. A logo can’t look past its prime, a brochure can’t feel like a copy-and-paste template, and a program can't feel like it was printed on the cheap.
That's why the yearly refreshes matter as much as the original rebrand did. Consistency across years of touchpoints is what turns a one-time impression into an established reputation.
Your Turn to Earn the Room
The MDL Judicial Summit is proof of what a long-term creative partnership can do for a brand that needs room to evolve: a partner who knows when it's time for a refresh and when it's time to rebuild.
That's what happens when design isn't just decoration. It's the experience, and it's the same approach we bring to legal marketing work across Ardent, from law firm branding to events like this one, where the audience is the legal profession itself.
