Design Logo Design, Development, and Branding
Your Logo Is the First Thing People See. Make Sure It's Saying the Right Thing.
A weak logo doesn't just look bad. It undermines every sales conversation, every proposal, every first impression your company makes. Ardent Creative has designed hundreds of logos and brand identities for companies across industries, and we know the difference between a logo that looks good in a presentation and one that actually builds a brand.
The Problem
Most logos fail before they're ever printed.
They fail because someone chose a font that felt right rather than one that communicates the right thing. They fail because the colors were picked from a mood board instead of a market context. They fail because the designer never asked what the logo needs to do on a business card, on a truck wrap, on a website favicon, reversed out on a dark background at half an inch.
A logo designed without that thinking isn't a brand asset. It's a placeholder that will eventually have to be replaced.

- Alignment session with account manager and art director before concepting begins
Why Ardent Creative
We've designed hundreds of logos. We know the difference between design value and brand value.
We run a process, not a guessing game. Every Ardent logo engagement starts with a branding questionnaire and market research before a single concept is sketched. We want to know your competitors, your target customer, the impression you need to make, and the contexts your logo will actually live in. That research shapes every decision downstream: font selection, color psychology, logo structure, and application logic.
We build brand systems, not just marks. A logo is one component. What you actually need is a brand identity, including a font system, a color palette, a set of usage rules, and enough flexibility to apply consistently across every surface your company touches. Plenty of designers will hand you a PNG file and call it done. We hand you a brand guidelines document that tells you exactly how to use what we built, and why.
We've done this across industries, at every level of complexity. From simple wordmarks for service businesses to complex logo families and brand architectures for companies with multiple product lines, we've navigated the full range. That breadth means we bring pattern recognition to your project that a designer without that history simply can't.
Our internal review process means you see our best work, not our first draft. Before any concept reaches you, it goes through an internal review with our account manager and art director. We pressure-test every option for scalability, legibility, and competitive differentiation. What you see in the presentation reflects our actual recommendation, not a pile of options we're hoping you'll sort through.
Our Process
- Branding Questionnaire: You complete a structured questionnaire that captures your company's positioning, audience, competitors, and visual preferences. This is the foundation everything else builds on. The more specific you are here, the sharper the output.
- Research and Market Analysis: We analyze your competitive landscape and market context before a concept is started. We want to know what visual language your category defaults to, so we can make a deliberate decision about where to follow it and where to break from it.
- Kickoff Meeting: Your account manager and art director align with you on direction before design begins. This is where we confirm the research findings, clarify any open questions, and establish the creative brief that guides the concepting phase.
- Logo Concepting and Design: Multiple logo family directions are developed — each representing a distinct strategic approach, not just a stylistic variation. Every concept is built to work across your actual use cases, not just look strong in a mockup.
- Internal Review: Before anything is presented to you, our team reviews every concept for scalability, legibility, competitive differentiation, and consistency with the strategic brief. You see our best thinking, not our first pass.
- Client Presentation: We present your logo options with the rationale behind each one — not just what it looks like, but why it works and what it communicates. You'll have enough information to make a confident decision, not just a gut call.
- Refinement and Brand Detail Development: With your direction confirmed, we develop the selected concept into a complete brand identity, refining the mark, selecting the full color palette, finalizing the typography system, and building out all logo applications.
- Final Presentation and Asset Delivery: We present the completed brand identity, hand over all production and web files in every standard format, and deliver a brand guidelines document you can share with any vendor, employee, or partner who needs to apply your brand correctly.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What does a logo and brand identity project cost?
- A foundational logo design with multiple concepts, one selected direction refined to completion, and file delivery typically runs $2,500-$5,000. A full brand identity engagement with the logo, color system, typography, usage guidelines, and a brand guidelines document runs $4,000-$8,000 depending on complexity. We'll scope based on what you actually need, not the maximum we can sell you.
- How long does the process take?
- From signed agreement to final asset delivery, most logo and brand identity projects run four to eight weeks. The biggest variable is the client feedback cycle — when reviews come back quickly and decisively, we stay on schedule. We'll give you a specific timeline in your proposal.
- How many logo concepts will we see?
- You'll see multiple distinct directions, each representing a different strategic approach to your brand, not just style variations on the same concept. We present with rationale so you understand what each direction is communicating, which makes the selection decision more confident and less arbitrary.
- What if we don't like any of the initial concepts?
- It rarely happens when the branding questionnaire and kickoff meeting are done well, because we're designing from your actual input rather than guessing. If a direction needs significant rethinking, we'll have a direct conversation about what's not landing and why before we redraw anything. Revision rounds are included in the scope and we'll specify exactly how many in the proposal.
- Do you do logo-only projects, or do we have to buy the full brand identity?
- We can do logo-only. That said, we'll always be direct with you if we think your situation calls for the fuller engagement. A logo without a defined color system and typography hierarchy often creates new problems downstream with inconsistency, vendor interpretation errors, and off-brand applications. We'll tell you what we actually recommend and let you decide.
- We already have a logo. Can you refresh it rather than replace it?
- Yes. A logo refresh — refining what exists rather than starting from scratch — is a valid engagement. We'll audit the current mark for technical and strategic issues, then propose a scope based on how much needs to change. Sometimes it's minor refinement. Sometimes the audit reveals the logo needs more work than a refresh can fix, and we'll be honest about that before you commit.
- What file formats do we receive at the end?
- You receive master vector files in .ai and .eps, which are what any professional printer, sign company, or vendor will ask for. You also receive web-ready files in .jpg and .png. Every file is delivered in full color, reversed (white), and black versions, across all logo variations included in the project.
- What is a brand guidelines document, and do we actually need one?
- A brand guidelines document specifies exactly how your logo, colors, and fonts should be used — and how they shouldn't. It covers clear space rules, minimum size requirements, approved color applications, and prohibited modifications. If you ever work with outside vendors, marketing staff, or contractors who touch your brand, a guidelines document is what keeps everything consistent. Without one, your brand will drift slowly, then all at once.
