Our musically-inclined client, Paul Jaso, is a creative genius in his own right. This award-winning composer/arranger selected us when it came time to launch his business and brand, On the Field Music. Offering all-inclusive shows to high school marching band programs, Paul wanted to ensure his branding captured the pageantry of band performance in a clean, modern and straightforward way. 

We love collaborating with clients to bring their ideas to life. The design for the logo came out of an observation by Paul himself:  The hash marks on a football field and their resemblance to the decibel level indicators on an audio interface had the potential for a great concept. 

As a team, we took that idea and worked through a series of variations until landing on a final lock-up that utilizes a simple and bold typeface paired with an icon that speaks to the “field” and the “music” aspects of the nomenclature. The field outline contains simplified hash marks—a very relevant component to marching band choreography by the way—and doubles as a crescendoed volume indicator, telling the full story of the brand in a simple and balanced composition.

The culminating result for our client was a website that showcased On the Field’s new branding look. But more than just looking good, the site utilized a slick eCommerce integration featuring watermarked sheet music samples and audio demonstrations to really highlight the shows.
